The Almighty Architect
"For I know the plans I have for you", declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
The first step the builder takes in building a house is drawing the plans. The blueprint for a house shows the entire plan so the building can begin and the builder then sees the plans through to the very end. This is the same with our life - and our Builder and Maker is God.
The plans for a new home themselves are impressive as the architect spends many hours working on the construction plans. He carefully thinks about everything the new homeowner will need; the foundation, the size, the weight loads, the roof plans, exterior and interior elevations, the walls, the codes needed to pass, the doors and windows needed and many other details that will meet the very specific needs of the new homeowner.
No matter how beautiful the house may appear on the outside, it is greatly flawed and will not last if the plans are not perfectly designed and followed.
But the Builder, willing to build, can only build "IF FIRST" the owner of the house FIRST decides he wants to have his home built.
It brings such comfort to know how God has plans for us and they are good because He is the Almighty Architect and what matters most in life is allowing God to build in us the perfect plans He has. Some pursue the treasures of this world and desire to build their own lives and they build on the temporal things, that which does not last. Many love reading the scriptures and sharing the Word with others but they are not willing to let God builds their lives according to His Master Plan.
The first step in allowing Christ to build our lives is to allow Christ to make His Home in our heart. Them, allowing Him to build us up in Him one day at a time, brick at a time.....Revelation 3:20 says, "Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in"
God has a design for us and desires to build us up into mature Christians. The Bible says that "we are Hs workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10
When the builder visits the site he can see when things don't look right according to his plans so he gets out the blueprints, and compares them with the problem he is faced with. The blueprints show how things should be, what it should be made of – and look like. He shows how the blueprints reveal all of this and what needs to be done as the work continues.
Our builder pointed out recently something he noticed that was not quite right according to the plans, “The wall they were building was not according to the blueprints. It was not measured as the plans showed, the design wasn’t right, and this effected the furthering of the plans that were designed so perfectly". So it was time to look at the plans and revisit them. So it is with us and God's Word....How a good builder desires to correct these things for the good of the owner, always thinking of his best interest, and this is the same with God and His care for us and the blueprints He has so beautifully drawn for us through His Word.
The builder knew how to fix the problem...he had the answers and this was such a beautiful reminder to me. How important it is to follow God's Word that He gives us, His Word is perfect, never flawed, always precise, perfect and it is what builds us up as we follow His Blueprint for our life.
If we follow Christ and we make His Home is in our heart "we will be filled with all the fullness of God" Eph 3:19 and His resplendent glory! God has the Blueprint for us to follow, His Word, and the messes we often find ourselves in, the lack of joy and peace are simply because we have not followed His directions. We blindly ignore His most careful instructions on how to build and grow our lives, the correction process at times is painful when we deviate from His Blueprint and it is slow and sometimes costly. It involves some walls to be knocked down and it causes setbacks but the correction will be used for our good. Whether we are correcting a problem, or desiring Him to rebuild us again or maybe we desire Him to build us new this very day, we want our lives to be built right, and it needs to be done according to the Almighty Architect’s Plans.
"He has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him" 1 Peter 1:3
